Signs you're going through a Spiritual Awakening - Part 1

Going through a Spiritual Awakening is one of the most profound experiences in life. The depths your awakening can take you to are limitless.

Spiritual awakening’s are complex and completely unique to the individual. Many begin their experience through a Dark night of the Soul, which can be a really challenging period of darkness, depression or grief caused by any number of situations that shake up your reality.

Others may find their journey more soft and easeful, but each person goes through periods of darkness. This serves the purpose of releasing the habits, people, beliefs that no longer serve you. Thus opening you up for more aligned choices to come into your life and elevate you towards your highest potential.

There are many signs and symptoms of a spiritual awakening, below are some common ones that many people find they share in experiencing.

Synchronicities 

Synchronicities are these amazing little moments that feel like pure magick. When we begin to lift our frequency and vibrate at a higher level of consciousness, we often notice that the things we’ve been thinking about just appear in front of us or someone next to us starts talking about it. This is a confirmation from the Universe that you are on the right path.

Have you ever been thinking about someone and at that moment they call you? Or have you ever thought about trying something new but you don’t know where to begin and the next day there’s an ad for it in your local area?

Well, these are synchronicities, they’re one of the many ways that the Universe talks to us, letting us know that our thoughts are in alignment with our highest good and we should move in that direction.

Sometimes the synchronicity can be more subtle, like once I was singing a song in the car and turned on the radio only for it to be playing at that exact moment. This isn’t a scenario for you to take action on, but rather a conformation that you’re aligning with your surroundings.

Angel Numbers

Angel Numbers are so much fun! Have you ever had a thought and then looked at the time and it showed 444, 1221, 1234, 1111? Well, these are called angel numbers, and these are a very common way for the Universe to communicate with us. 

Maybe you’re driving and you look over to see a licence plate with 333 or a phone number on the side of a building ending in 888. All of these are synchronistic and often, they’re calling your attention to look at your current thought or situation and take action.

Each angel number has a different meaning, all of the numbers from 1 through to 9 have a specific resonance and meaning, then the repeater numbers have different resonance and meanings too! There are some really reputable sites that have angel number meanings written down, so when you’re unfamiliar with them, you can look up the meaning and see what your guides are trying to tell you.

Other times, it’s just the Universe nudging you that you’re in alignment, especially if everytime you look at the clock it’s another angel number throughout your day.

When you see them arise, introspect for a moment and check in on your last thought, or give a little thanks to the Universe for reaching out. Remember, the Universe is always working in service of us, so when we thank her for her guidance she continues to deliver our thanks.

Books find you

I remember when I was beginning this journey and my mum wanted me to read the Celestine Prophecy (if you haven't read this yet, definitely put it on your reading list!). In high spirits, I picked it up and only read a little of the first chapter about seven times over a few months, I just couldn’t get into it. 

Then, one day I was sitting in my room and I looked up to my bookshelf, it was as if the book was glowing, just calling me over. So I humoured the feeling and picked it up, only this time, I drank up every single word on each page. I was downloading everything with so much ease and completely addicted from beginning to end.

You see, the first few times I tried to read the book I just wasn’t ready for the message, I had to learn a few more things before I could be in a space to fully take in and understand its information. 

This process repeated itself for a number of books thereafter, Women who Run with the Wolves (my personal Bible), The Alchemist, the second Celestine Prophecy. All of these books I tried to read desperately, but I could only read them once they had chosen me and the Universe had decided I was ready to fully comprehend and embody the information given in these sacred books.

You will most likely find that throughout your journey books will call to you, they’re reaching out to help elevate your progress in your awakening. If you start to read them and can’t get into it, just remember, don’t force spiritual wisdom onto yourself if your body isn’t willing to take it in, there’s always a reason. 

Your Empathy Heightens

I am a very firm believer that everyone is Empathic, no one misses out because they ‘weren’t born that way’. Some people are absolutely born more in touch with that aspect of themselves, just as some people are born more in touch with their creativity, others it may be athleticism, confidence, intellect, drive etc. 

Regardless of where your empathic abilities naturally lie, when you begin to awaken on this journey, chances are you will start to feel them heighten drastically over time. A lot of people find that all of a sudden they have to stay away from the news, violent or scary movies, negative friends, even if they had no real issue with them before.

This is because we start to break free from the conditioning of society, which works to desensitise us from low frequency issues. This detaches us from our empathic powers, and as we begin to tune back into them, we see through the veil of societal conditioning and feel a LOT more.

Empathy is when we can feel another’s emotion, maybe someone is crying about something on the Tv and suddenly you feel the deep pain and loss they are experiencing. Or when a friend is super excited about something and you can feel their excitement heat up your body and you can’t help but match it. Some people can also feel the physical symptoms of others, say if your partner had a headache and all of a sudden you have a headache forming too, or lower back pain from another. 

When we begin to heighten our empathic abilities we can often become overwhelmed and take on a lot of emotions and issues that aren’t ours. There are a lot of amazing tips and tools out there to help guide you through your journey with empathy and start to protect yourself energetically from another's projections. Understanding and using these protections come with time, but they’re incredibly valuable.

To summarise, Spiritual Awakenings are completely unique to the individual. However, keep an eye out for the above signs, as they can help you feel the depth of support from the Universe that you're always receiving. Open your mind to the idea that Universal wisdom is always in contact with you and see what patterns you notice are emerging as you awaken.
